Véritable rareté !!!

100 exemplaires seulement... fabriqués en 1977  spécialement par Nikon, à la demande expresse du National Geographic.

Magazine américain , qui ne lésinait  pas

sur les moyens, quand il s'agissait de fournir

le meilleur équipement possible à ses photographes.

Basé sur le célèbre NIKON FE , premier appareil de la génération AI, à proposer le Mode AUTO

à priorité diaphragme (dès 1976).

Spécialement équipé d'un viseur sportif

( appelé ACTION FINDER en Anglais ,

d'ou son nom de "FE A" ), il permettait d'être installé dans un caisson sous marin spécialement conçu  (NIKO MAR), et de travailler en AUTO ....

Il faudra attendre le F3 (1980),  pour avoir un Boitier de la série F, à Viseur Interchangeable

(donc possibilité de monter un "Action Finder"),

et de bénéficier de la Priorité Diaphragme.

Toute petite série réalisée très certainement à la main ....(100 exemplaires au total, 25 livrés au National Geographic, 25 à de très sérieux photographes “plongeurs”, et 50 seraient restés chez Nikon),

by Nikon, for the "National Geographic".

Famous American magasine, who never saved on equipment, when needed to provide the best equipment to his famous photographers worldwide.

Based on the already famous Nikon FE, first AI camera to propose "AUTOMATIC" mode with aperture priority (as soon as 1976).

Specially equipped with a Sport Finder (called ACTION FINDER , that explains the name "FE A" ), he could be installed in a specially built

Underwater Casing (NIKO MAR ),

and use the Aperture Priority feature.

We should wait the F3 (1980), to become a F body, with interchangeable finder ( and Action Finder availibility), and in the same time

be able to find the Aperture Piority mode.

Very small serie  certainly handmade....

(a total of100 samples, 25 delivered to the National Geographic, 25 to leading divers, and 50 were kept at Nikon )
